In this film, Lisa Vohra takes a humorous look at the first year of parenting, paralleling the first year of college. Join her as she goes from first day jitters - to pulling all nighters - to banishing anyone who dares not to breastfeed! With never seen before insight from real experts in parenting, who have ruined the curve for all of us. And mom-shamers with a daily judgement quota that must be met for their soul's fulfillment.

First let's get irony out of the way. My daughter Alyssa is now seven. So, it has taken me SEVEN years to make a documentary about the FIRST year of parenting (so in other words a person who filed for bankruptcy the day I started is now in the clear :). But I swore to myself that I will only do this in my spare time and not at the expense of work and my time with Alyssa (so, to negate the irony...it's authentic).
This film is not just about parenting. It’s about friendships, connections, showing vulnerability and, yes, the daily grind of the first year of parenting is thrown in there. Things new parents, especially moms, have to deal with (can someone say 'mom-shamers?")
I want my daughter to know that I struggled and that I wasn't perfect (in case yelling at her constantly hasn’t made that clear). And facing my insecurities and trusting my gut as a mom was (and continues to be) a process. Think of it this way, if we were perfect parents, we’d have kids with zero perspective and insight (so you’ll be happy to know that my daughter has A LOT of both :)
I made this for my daughter. Anything else is just gravy.
